I have a large amount of cucumbers growing and I want to pickle them this year. The problem is that they all don't come in at the same time. Can I store them until I have enough to pickle? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
God, those things stink. Cukes or jalapeno's we just put in the crisper bin and lower the humidity, haven't needed those green bags. The japs stay for quite some time, the cukes if wrapped in a paper towel will less time. Those green storage bags (as seen on TV!) work really well, but you need to be careful where you buy them. They can be expensive, but then again, they are reusable. We just rinse them out and turn them inside out to dry. If you shop around on the web for green vegetable bags you can find some less expensive offerings, but as it seems like you need them now I'd try Wally World, or if you have them Walgreen's and buy as few as you'll need for now. Shop for more online for the future. We get easily 3 -4 times the life than just putting veggies in the crisper with paper towels, and in some cases even longer than that. Jalapenos last for a long time and still stay crisp.
