Hi all...

I am a long time gas-griller but am new to smoking and just getting started. Not sure I could be more newb than that, ha-ha.

Aside from a couple starter mods I've learned from this awesome forum, I want to season my beast before I get ahead of myself. I welcome any specifics on the how-to from all (oil-type, burn-temp, duration, etc, etc).

Living in the Phoenix, AZ area and the weather is starting to get back to norms for some grill/smoke time.

Thanks

Grease it up.  Some use spray, vege oil, and all sorts of things.  I like good old lard. Then let the heat roll.

Put it on grass or dirt in case it drips.  Many will. Burn it in at least two or three times until you are sure it won't drip.  Don't need that stuff on your expensive wood deck or even on your concrete patio.

Go for it!

Good luck and good smoking.

Myself, I like to use my old deep frying oil... let it cool, strain, then put it in a used water bottle... Put a little hole in the cap... get a small rag.. and start squirting it all over the smoker and rubbing it in... do the inside, outside, underneath, all legs and frame work... anything and everything.... fire it up for at least 2 hrs, 3 is better.... and play with the vents and see what temps do... use your Mav (if you have one)... 250`-300` is good for the first hr and a half-2 hrs... then run it at 225` for the last hr....

X2 on doing this out in the yard somewhere over grass or dirt...

Just my version of seasoning
