Basically rats with a hard shell? Didn't get past the Ohio River when I lived in lower Indiana.

Electric fence is a great deterrent. My garden in MN is protected from the suburban residents.
They are new to middle Tennessee as well. Saw them a ton when we lived in Texas and Mississippi. Also fire ants. Creeping up into our area

Dillers (aka Texas speed bumps) can inflict a nasty slap with their tails if cornered and you get close enough. They will emit a nasty smell when scared.
To get rid of their food source in the yard, you can use regular weed and feed and water it in. Also will keep moles out of the yard

I appreciate all the tips guys...I know I gotta do something soon cuz the little varmints are destroying my yard!

I realize everyone doesn’t live in a place where you can just shoot guns lol. So if that’s you, you could live trap them and relocate them to a more rural area where you can safely and legally shoot them lol

I've got nearby houses on 3 sides of my place...so the .22 is not a safe option. I'm leaning toward trapping them.

I've not found anything that works in the live trap to coax them into it...

Yup... Ridding the yard of what they are digging up is pretty much the only way....

I’m in the sit up and blow their heads off camp
I load shorts into my 10/22 for stuff like this. Turns it into a single shot but it's just right - doesn't zip through out the other side as fast. It's my possum popper. Armadillos haven't made it here yet, but I'm sure the Possum Special would work. If not, I have a various assortment of CCI, Federal, Remington, and Aguila in longs.

I'm with Jake.
