Hi all,

Wondering what you all use to keep things clean for food safety.

I recenlty learned about hypochlorous acid (HOCl) as an all purpose disinfectant.

In addition to using it on countertops, you can use it to wash produce directly.

Great as a hand sanitizer, and deoderizer. You can mop the floor with it and rinse your mouth too. It kills pretty much all pathogens including E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria, Norovirus, Flu, Covid, Flesh-eating bacteria, and Botulinum toxin.

It works fast, it's safe/ gentle for humans and pets (mammals' white blood cells even make it to fight infection). It wont bleach clothes and it breaks down into water and salt.

It's got a short self life, but you can make it at home with an electrolysis system ($150) using water, salt, and vinegar.

being somewhat OCD with food safety, this stuff is fascinating. Not sure why I haven't come across if before.

What do you all use?

I spray all surfaces , door knobs , fridge handles , faucet handles before I start , and then again after I clean . No rinse , no wipe . I spray door knobs because my holding fridge is in the garage , and I'm in and out as I make sausage . Same reason I spray fridge handles .

I use Steramine on my equipment like my grinder, stuffer, and food surfaces. I usually let it soak for a while after hand cleaning and just rinse afterward. I use it before and after equipment use and it just rinses off. Comes in tablets and it is pretty cheap.

I do not think I'd gargle with it though!

This is exactly what I use also. I get it from a local restaurant supply store. Good enough.
