High-temp silicone

Hey all, Can i use high temp silicone to seal the gap between the sfb and main chamber?  How about other openings?  Or do i get something else?  Be fore warned i'm from Az so wood stove stuff is scarce.  Thanks Ron

That or oven rope will be fine. Just do a burn out to blow off all of the silicone volatiles, if that's what you use.

Like James said, most guys use oven rope. If you use silicone let us know how it works out.

I have RTV (red) silicone holding my glass rope on my fire box door and so far so good, tried Rutland Stove Gasket (black) it was too brittle for the rope.

JB Weld may work

I used Rutland stove and gasket cement on my firebox to chamber for a few leaks, so far its holding.

The Permatex High Temp Red RTV works for me with the rope. No problems yet. You should be able to get stove rope online.

I have had good luck with JB Weld and the rope- like they are fused together.

Ok time for an update.  I ran a bead around the sfb and the main chamber plus put some in the various holes around the main chamber.  It worked very well (so well it showed other places to seal)  To fill those holes use something to back it and squirt some in the hole, carefully remove your backer and you are done! Let it set up (per the instructions) and then take it for a test smoke.
