  1. Hi everyone.  I've been a year round griller since I was 11, and when I finally got a place of my own, a grill was low priority.  2 months in, and we finally have a grill!  Not just any grill though... it's a beaut - one side is a grill, and the other has an open cavity for charcoal.  I am hoping to turn the coal side into a smoker.  Neither of us have every smoked before, so I'm sure I will be around quite a bit asking a ton of questions :)

We have a Master Forge 3-Burner Dual Fuel Grill.  Happy bbqing!

Hi, Jen-I answered you question about using your unit for a smoker. Knowing what you have my original answer still works.  Just remember to keep as much distance between the charcoal and the food grate, charcoal on onside, food on the other and you should do fine.

  6. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Yes, Iron Chef... I came from a house where we grilled rain or snow; probably 5 days every week.  And yep... once I was old enough to reach the cook surface without burning myself I was put in the rotation for cooking.  I tell ya... pan frying or using a George Foreman has not satisfied my steak craving for 2 months.  They looked like steaks... but did not taste right at all!

Dutch... I had a link in my other post to the actual grill I have... I'll check to make sure it's right.  Very glad to hear I can make it work!
  7. be very careful, though...once you start smoking stuff, it's easy to get hooked!
