Hi all and a big hello from the UK!

We are all a bit new to this smoking thing over here in the UK. Most people this side of the Atlantic can only just cook a frozen burger and consider themselves a King of the Grill if they manage to cook a chicken leg without giving somebody food poisoning.

I am a BBQ veteran who is thought mad by his neighbours for firing up the kettle BBQ most weekends come rain or shine (mostly rain)

This years challenge is to smoke a turkey for christmas day.

Me and my better half , not forgetting my son are big fans of overnight smoked pulled pork shoulder lovingly rubbed in my own secret recipe - well a slightly modified bbq pit boys one

I look forward to the day when pickup trucks and decent country music are the norm over here!!!

Best Wishes

Thanks for the welcome!. This is what I am using at the moment for my first attempts.  So far I've done pork shoulders, 1/2 legs of lamb, chickens, brisket and sausage. Best thing we can get over here for smoking is Jack Daniels barrel chips.

Howdy, LC!

Just come on over to Texas and you'll find lots of friends with smokers, good TEXAS country music (and Austin), and more pickup trucks than you can count. Besides that you can wear boots and hats without being looked at funny. And, rain will be something that you will go out and stand in for the novelty of it.

Thanks again for all your warm welcomes!

Just treated myself to Toby Keiths new cd, so i'm sitting in the sun in my dreams!!

I do have a pickup as a works vehicle, but I daren't say what it is on here for fearing of being struck off......

I'm having a go at pulled pork chilli tonite seeing as its too cold to site outside.

Time to go and have a trawl around the site to see if its as good as you all say, and i'm sure it is.

Welcome !!! This site is even better than we can say. I learned everything I know about smoking on here. It just doesn't stop there now I'm baking bread and making my own rubs, BBQ sauces, and hot sauce. Next is a grinder and stuffer. It has become an addiction. My wife thinks I'm nuts but when it homes time to eat I hear no complaints.

Welcome , Limestone ... like Hutch said , come over to Texas , heck , really anywhere over here now, and join in... OR... start a  "FAD" and have weekend Parties  ,inviting buches of friends and have Country Music and dress up in Faded Jeans - Boots and a comfortable (worn looking - distressed ) Bluejean Shirt. You know , worn enough the material is thinning and soft , with a little frayed hole here and there , Oh, and a Hat ( either Ballcap or Western ).

Have fun and...

Sounds like a tour through my wardrobe.

I'm looking forward to trying out some new recipes and impressing my family with my uncanny skills!

BTW my truck is a TOYOTA

There I said it. That wasn't too bad(or was it.....)

Welcome aboard Cowboy. Glad you're here!! Sounds like you're off to a good start. Looking forward to seeing some Q-view of your creations. Invite some of those neighbors that think you're "mad" over for some good Q and I'm sure the next thing you know they'll be begging for invites to your next cookout....rain or shine. So, crank up the tunes and get to smokin'!!

Howdy, LC !

See if this URL will give you the streaming music from KOKE-FM out of Austin, Tex.

KOKE/FM Austin TX USS

They play a mix of old stuff, current stuff, and new stuff. Don't know how internet lag will affect the music. We get i on broadcast as well as via Pandora and KOKE app on the iPhones.

Hope this helps with your country music jones.
