Operation Barbecue Relief is a national nonprofit that deploys cooks and supplies to disaster zones around the country, feeding both relief workers and displaced families. Founded by a couple of competitive pitmasters just over a decade ago, the group has grown to include COVID relief (employing out-of-work restaurant staff to feed first responders and the community), homeless outreach, barbecue education, and other non-disaster efforts. Military/veteran support is a big thing for them, too. They are one of many excellent-rated nonprofits, specifically one that I expect this community could really appreciate. Besides donations (which are tax-deductible), they have a bunch of swag for sale, too. You could also consider volunteering with them.
