Help with hinges

I was givin a half built horizontal smoker made out of a fuel drum. The door is cut out and trimmed but there is no hinges. I remember reading a thread awhile back about how to build tour own hinges and I would like to do it but can't find that thread. Any help would be great!!

lenny, evening.... when you get it figured out, remember, the hinge pin needs to go beyond the door seal so it won't interfere with the door opening.....

Hi All,

  This may be slightly off topic but here goes anyway. I recently saw a post on another forum about replacing bad or broken hinges on a vertical smoker with piano hinges available at Home Depot. Looks like a permanent fix.
