I just purchased a Great Outdoors Grill Co. 34" Smoky Mountain Gas Smoker, I put it all together and hooked my propane tank, and it leaked at the plastic connection. This tank worked before and after on my BBQ. Has anybody else had this problem? If anybody has is a simple fix? Also I have not been able to find there web site to get any help.

Thanks again

I dont have a gas smoker, however i have several single burner hi and lo output stoves. one of the stoves i purchased had the same problem. there are two ways to deal with the problem if you can disconect the hose from the burner.
if you need it right away you can go to a bbq/grill supply store, a sports store like cabelas or sportsmans warehouse, etc. or your local propane company and get a new tank connection and hose.
or
you can send the piece back to the company with a description of the problem and ask for a replacement part.
why only these two ways to solve the problem?
Because as I found out with my problem, only the manufacturer can make the repair because they have certain certifications to make the connection in the first place. It sounds like you are just missing the rubber gasket which still needs to be sent in to get repaired. if youre missing the gasket a gas company may beable to slap one on for you, if its that easy.
I went to my local sports store and bought a new hose, regulator and tank connection because i needed it right away. I sent my faulty assembly to the manufacturer/retailer i got the stove from and they gladly replaced the broken piece. yes i now have an extra but now i have a back up or another assembly for a stove i can buy at a flea market or garage sale, etc. that doesnt have one.

go to lowes or home depot and see if they have the replacement regulator for a turkey fryer, they have a needle valve already built in to the regulator, so you could get a mod out of the way and fix your smoker at the same time.

the reason this is what I would buy is because it will help you have more control of the heat and allow you to get even lower temps than you could get with a normal regulator.

CFM is the manufacturer of your unit. They have hit hard times and getting them to replace your faulty hose might be a problem. So what others have sugested, buy replacement hose at Lowes or Home Depot, may be the only way to go. By the way, it seams this is a comon problem lately with GOSM. Please don't burn your house down, fix the problem now. My .02

I just had the same problem. Great Outdoors Grill Co. is bankrupt and you will get no help there. If I understand you, the leak is at the threaded plastic that screws on the tank. I found that older tanks create this problem as the brass male fitting does not fit the tank seal. You might try this. Disassemble the plastic screw assembly from the regulator. Place a couple of older sparkplug washers on the end of the brass male piece and re-assemble. Washers that are the same size as the brass one that is already there will intefere with the threads on the tank valve. This will give you about an eight inch increase into the seal. It would not work for me and I had to get a new tank. My tank was twenty years old.
