Hi, unfortunately I had to reregister with a different name, not sure what happened. Otherwise I would have posted this yesterday.

Thought after a year of my smoker purchase I would finally try chicken. I'm going to soak the chicken in a brine for several hours.

My question is this, how long per pound should I plan to smoke a whole chicken @ 225/250?

Also, I was wonering if I should try a rub also with the brine?

Thanks.

First things first you need to stop into roll call please an introduce yoirself properly. Then to your chicken just brine it and then you add your rub what ever that mite be. Then you smoke it at about 225-230 you can go as high as 300 to crisp the skin but mine does just fine. Just smoke it to about 165 in the thigh and 180 in the breast and you should be just fine. So happy smoking and go to roll call please.

Last weekend I did a 5# Chicken and it took 5 hrs. using a propane smoker at 225

Thanks George, that's what I was looking for.

I would not smoke poultry below 250 but that is me. I cook to internal of 170-175 ish but I am also old. LOL
