New to smoking just did my first pork "butt" today turned out great. Done in an electric smoker with a mix of hickory and apple wood chips.

It was great little bit of spice from the rub I made and good smoke flavor it practically melted in your mouth. Also had a decent bark on it nothing crazy just a nice crisp outer layer. I also saved the juices to make an au jus to pour back over it once it was shredded. Top it off with my homemade carolina red sauce and it was a huge hit with all my guest. So basically I am very pleased with how it turned out.

Welcome to the board from next door in Ohio.

That looks like a good smoke. Have fun learning what you can do. *whispers salmon* ...

You are going to have a lot of fun learning this. Expect a few misses but every time will teach you something. Share your food and people will wonder how you produced it.

We're not jealous of our secrets here. If something works then WHY NOT TELL the WORLD, eh?
