Hey everybody. My name is Gary and I've just registered as a member here. I'm writing from Kannapolis, NC. I've been a grilling nut for most of my life and believe you can grill most anytime. Including the cold winters in the northeast. I started out with charcoal many years ago and moved on to the more convenient gas grill. It's still important to me to impart a smoky flavor in whatever I'm grilling so depending on what I'm grilling, there will always be a chunk of wood or packet of wood chips. I just love that smell and eventual great taste. I'm hoping to learn some more tricks and secrets to great smoking and grilling. Again currently using a Weber Genesis gas grill (8 years old) and have my eye on a couple of different charcoal grills to add to my outdoor "kitchen". I look forward to reading your forums and hopefully participating. Keep cool y'all

Welcome to the forum Gary! You'll find answers to most anything you want to know here... these folks are amazing. By the way, check out the North Carolina group when you get a chance.

Welcome Gary.  You will definitely learn a lot here.  You definitely can get some great results with a Weber Geneis or other gas grill with a smoke box and indirect heat.  If you hover over my name you can check on "threads started" and I have several posts that show some BBQ created on gas grills with an aluminum pan with wood chips (porkstravaganza, weekend of smoke part 1 and 2, Beer can chicken dance).  The results were excellent (but personally I think the charcoal results were a bit better).
