I had thought about adding a shelf to this when I built it . After Christmas and new cooking equipment added to the kitchen I decided to do it .
Here's the original thread for anyone that had not seen and is interested .

Had some Missouri wild cherry I get from a local guy . Glued up a shelf , and milled out a stretcher and cleats .
Cleats are half lapped . Just makes a stronger better looking connection .

Used my line laser to set the elevation . Makes installing it in place
easy .

Just the stretcher by itself adds something to the look .

Used some double faced tape to keep it from sliding around .
That way no fasteners showing .

That table turned out to be extremely useful . Great to work off of
and just an in general focal point of the room .
The shelf is really going to add to that .

Honestly, I think it looks better now. Cannot really put my finger on why, maybe since the piece was was on the longer side to start with? Too funny, we have the exact same crock same color on bottom shelf right.

Thanks for the comments . Just figured I'd put it out there since most had seen the original thread , and might give an idea here or there .
I like having things where I can see them and at the ready . Easy access and easy to put it away as well .

I agree . It " evens out the height to width " ratio .
I was torn about doing it from the start , but actually worked out better having it in use for awhile .
Gave me a look at what would work best . Kind of like building a High School . Put in just the needed flatwork , have school , then come back at the end of the year and pour the sidewalks where the kids cut across the grass and wore it down .

Thanks again for looking .

I have the perfect spot for it.
That's the nice thing about doing it yourself . That was built to fit that section of wall .
As builts on this house has a cased opening that walks into the dining room . I had it filled in , use the dining room as an office . Way better use of the space .
nice craftsmanship.

That looks really nice

I like it!

The added shelf looks perfect.

Thanks for the comments fellas . Is extremely useful , and I agree Matt . The shelf is a great add .
