I'm pretty new here and new to smoking.  I'm in the New Haven, CT area and it's really hot today.  I'm hoping the smoker makes some smoke soon so I can get R done.  :)

I have been wanting a smoker for a long time.  I hate grilling and am selling my gas grill.  I just don't like cooking that much so being able to cook and not have to hover over it is just my cup of tea.  I originally just wanted some smoked chicken and pork, but my beagle mix, Cassie is in the end stage of congestive heart failure and her picky appetite has decided that smoked food is the best.  Since I'm having trouble getting her to eat unless its smoked, I'm smoking chicken about every other week and packing the smoker full (small Masterbuilt electric.)

This is Cassie just relaxing.  The big tummy is fluid she collects because of her bad heart.  She is only 35 pounds and tends to collect about 4 liters.  I can't have it drained too often because that makes her sick too.  She feels pretty good most of the time, especially when she's getting smoked chicken for meals and treats.

Welcome.  Smoking is a great method of cooking and enjoyed by humans too. You you are a wonderful pet owner for making Cassie as happy as possible during this tough time.

I packed the smoker full this afternoon.  Cassie gets the 6 huge chicken breasts and I get the 4 legs.  That's ok, I prefer dark meat.

My other 4 dogs were jockying for position to get scraps and to lick the cookie sheets I cooled the chicken on.  We all get some tomorrow for dinner.

Thanks for the welcome.  I will update my location as soon as I figure out where it is.
