Ive been a reader of this forum for about 4 years now and just decided to join. I want to thank everyone for all their information on this forum, even knowing there are people like me that don't join.
About 4 years ago I start with MES30. No mods. Although I did try the pellet tray. Im not a big fan of the pellet flavor. Which brings me to about a month ago and I reviewed a Masterbuilt 1050. To be honest this is the great thing ever for me a my family, We actually love it. No issues and no mods. We have done full briskets, ribs, pork butt's, pig shot etc.

But I do have a question, Is there a brand of charcoal or lump charcoal that actually has bigger pieces than what's standard. Im using Kingsford and B&B lump charcoal. Some bags are better than others with the limp charcoal. Is this normal?

Again thanks everyone for all their information over the years.

Welcome to the forums glad you finally decided to join the fun. As for your question. Lump is hit or miss. Alot of broken pieces. Briquettes are basically uniform in size. I think KBB is a tad larger then ridge but not enough to make a difference.

First off, welcome to SMF! Glad you joined.
As for your question, I don’t know if there are any “bigger” charcoal pieces. I strictly use Royal Oak briquettes. The lump charcoal will burn hotter.

Welcome from Iowa! Glad you joined. My SIL gave me two 20 lb bags of RO lump and it had some large pieces and small

Welcome to SMF from South Carolina! I am a user of Kingsford and have personally not seen any briquettes larger that that(could be wrong if so I have not found them). I use a variety of brands of lump and most have a full range of size in the bag(From dime size pieces to the larger 6 to 8in logs :emoji_laughing: ), which I hate but it is what it is.
