From what I understand about brining and marinating they are two different animals. Is this totally true? I was planning on doing an overnight marinade but ive heard it can make the chicken to mushy for smoking. Not a big risk to me just wanted to get peoples views on this.
 
Im sure there is some technical difference between them but to me they are the same in that you are adding moisture and flavor.

I have not noticed the final product being mushy.
