Looking for some help for my dad. He's new to smoking. He's using a Masterbuilt vertical propane smoker. He's tried two times now and both times he has had too much smoke. I have not had this problem yet with my vertical smoker, but his is slightly different. I haven't noticed that he is doing anything different than what I would normally do. Any thoughts on what may be causing the excessive white smoke?

I do not have a propane smoker but in my WSM too much smoke means too much cold fuel added at once.

I am sure some of the pros with the type smoker you're using will come along with some good advice very soon.

Please give more details. Chips or Chunks, in the stock pan or something else?...JJ

He will probably have better luck with Chunks. Or try less Chips but that will require more frequent reloading...JJ

i'll tell him to give that a try. thanks. I guess I never checked to see how much wood he was using...
