Has anyone cleaned their BGEgg, or do you just leave it as is after 10+ years?

Hi all, didn't know where this fit but thought this might be a good place.

Have a 10+ year old Big Green Egg and have never cleaned the top out, but just wondered if it worked better if I did....to let the ceramic hold in more of the moisture was what I was thinking.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
