Me and the wife are at odds, she want a traditional TG dinner Turkey and all the trimmings, but I don't eat turkey, past few years we've also done a ham, which got me by.
This year I want to do a brisket. I've got a 8-9 lb brisket on ice now
Here is my menu so far.
Brisket (cooked the day before and rewarmed at 170 in the oven on the big day)
Baked Beans (cooked in the smoker since oven space will be limited, ok, so smoked baked beans morning on the big day)
Corn Bread ( store bought due to oven space limitations)
Coleslaw, (I can make on the 24th, no oven needed, or use store bought)
Deviled Eggs, (again, no oven needed)
Mac & Cheese ( no oven here also, just some stove top space)
All these are pretty much traditional BBQ sides
I was thinking of making hush puppies, but I think the cornbread and hush puppie combo would be too much, Don't have a fryer, found some oven baked recipes that looked interesting,
but again hit oven space limitation.
I was also thinking I need some potato component, maybe potato salad or some sort of fried/baked potato thing. but I'm not sure if it's needed.
Brisket would be rubbed with my home made rub, simple mop, no injection, no brine. 225 - 240 till it's done. no plan to foil or wrap.
Jeff had a brisket idea sent out a while ago in the newsletter. may try to follow that.
I'm trying to make a fairly well balanced meal meat, veggies, starches,
Anything I might be missing or could change up?
