Just a quick question. I’ve made my moms ham and potato soup with the leftover bone when I have smoked hams in the past. This time the bone is too big to submerge in the pot to cook down. Can I use a sawzall with a new clean blade to cut in half?

Why not? I use a sawsall when processing, and I have a meat bandsaw. The sawsall is just fast and handy for small bone cuts like hocks.

I’ve done exactly that. A friend of mine shot a wild hog & wanted me to make him some hams, but the leg was too long to get into the cure. So we just cut the last 4 or 5 inches off with a sawsall. I didn’t even use a new blade.

That looks good . My Son made a potato soup last night that was close to the best thing I ever ate .
Yours sure looks to be right here with it .
Yup , sawzall , band saw , hacksaw works pretty good .

Good looking soup. I'd be all over that without a doubt. To answer your question, as several others have done, yes you can use a sawzall. I do it all the time with huge primal cuts of beef I get to break down into steaks or roasts. No issues at all.

I would use the least amount of tool, like a Hack Saw.
A lot less cleaning than a Band Saw.
Sawzall wouldn't be too bad.
