Photography can be a good career but only if he becomes very good. The industry has been shrinking for a number of years. The sports sector has dwindled and the news media has especially been hit hard. Whole crews there have been let go. I'm retried and these days I only shoot professionally for the local soccer team. The pay would not support even a college student but it gets me out of the house and allows me to continue to enjoy shooting sports. Hobby-wise, photography is something one can thoroughly enjoy for the rest of their lives. Definitely agree with him finishing up his business degree and pursuing the HVAC career. That will keep him fed, warm and prosperous while he continues to sharpen his photography skills.
