All-

Posting here as i have yest to be able to get in touch with the GMG app support been 3 days and not a call back. looking for maybe a tech guy on here to chime in.
Issue is as follows. I hooked up my grill p2p then to wifi so i could use the app and have the wifi grilling available. once i did this however , now my phone where the app is installed will continually disconnect from the wifi that the GMG is talking too (home network) it will drop and not reconnect ill have to manually go into wifi and hit the connect button . this continues through out the cook and now ive noticed on my network that the grill is connected to , my phone drops the wifi when the app isnt being used. Checked the wifi connection against my work wifi and had no dropping whatsoever , also checked at my parents house and had no disconnecting. Something between the app and the grill has caused my phone to drop my home network and not reconnect making the wifi option useless for me . this started as soon as i downloaded the app and connected to the grill p2p. Any thoughts?

I don't have a GMG, so just a guess - but it sounds like your phone is trying to connect to the GMG wifi network. Try telling the phone to Forget that network, or depending on phone type, configure so it does not auto connect to that network.

so the thing is that once you connect your phone to the grill in point 2 point mode and initiate the WiFi connection the GMG stops broadcasting its wifi signal .. so if i open up my networks there is no GMG network available . the only GMG is in my saved network files should i forget it from there?

That's what I would do. I'm thinking that the GMG may occasionally/erroneously switch to P2P, and your phone then tries to connect. Again, just a guess.

interesting ok i already forgot the network from my saved networks although its not broadcasting a signal . whatever happened is strange because its only causing issue on my home router that i used to enable the grill and app.

Might check and see if the phone and GM unit is connected to the 2.4gHz band instead of the 5gHz. I've heard on some of the wifi units they don't like to play very well on the 5gHz level for some reason?!?

ive heard that as well but have no clue how to check which band its on ? My thought is if the gmg are not 5ghz capable they wouldnt connect but stay on the 2.4?

What type of phone do you have?

worst part is GMG app supprt wont get back to me , called left several messages and their email response is scripted and of no help. Heard great things about their customer service but from the app side its been terrible .

Although I can't help you with your problem, I would keep at it with GMG's customer service. Tell them you belong to this awesome forum dedicated to foods their product is designed to make, and that future customers are watching!

ya those videos help i did the wifi board reset and unistatlled and re installed the app . My issues is somewhere in the loop from the grill to my home network and phone. my phone doesnt have any issues connecting to any other saved networks i have such as my office wifi or parents home wifi . its causing a disruption with my phone staying connected to the network the grill and the phone are on . it will disconnect then wont automatically reconnect when in range like t should. It jsut drops them my home network in settings is showing saved causing me to have to manually reconnect

Not sure if you got your wifi figured out but it is with the 2.4 wifi that is your issue. had same problem drove me insane

Not sure if you got this figured out of not but, I know there was some sort of issues with the different available firmware versions for the wifi controller. Upgrade the firmware to the Beta version and you should be G2G.
