I am not sure who makes this, but it looks like a decent piece of equipment. And for the price, I am picking one up! Here is a link. Also, if anyone has ever used one of these, please let me know how they work. Ive been looking for a cheap remote temp probe, just so i can leave the smoker and come inside when its 5 degrees outside!! As long as its close to accurate, thats all i care about!

shipping is kinda high and he takes no returns. Good luck with it.

I have used these (2 actually). They sell for $15 at wally world. They tested out accurate for me (read 212 in a pot of boiling water). I would recommend, although you buy twice as many batteries being wireless... All in all i've had decent luck.

I have 2 of those and I gave a couple away to friends and they work very well. I bought 4 but found out that they are all on the same frequency and that didn't work well. However 2 work great as the temps from both will flash on the readout unit. It will show one temp then flash and show you the other temp. Makes it kinda nice I leave one readout unit by the smoker and the other one in the house

Well, Its on its way. And for under $20 bucks for the unit and shipping combined, i dont think i can go wrong. Thank you for the reviews!! Sounds like a decent thermo. And if you read further into the description. They do guarantee them from DOA. If i could find them at my wally world, i would purchase one there. But my welfare mart doesnt carry them.

I got the sameone. Great thermo.... I got mine at walmart out in the grilling section and they also sell them at target. Walmarts price was like 12 or 13 bucks and around that at target too.

I use one as well. The light on the top is a joke and you cannot set a low alarm point, but for the money it works pretty good.

I had one from Wally World and it didn't last long. Never could hear the alarm beeper and after a while the thing just quit.

Get what you pay for I guess...Good luck with it!

smoke make sure you wrap the probe with tin foil at the wire end it will help keep the probe from melting and getting moisture into it

Thanks for the advice Bbqlover! I have a dual probe polder and a single probe oneida already. And i wrap the wires in foil every time. I did it to keep the wires from getting all smoke stained. I never thought about moisture introduction though... I will make sure i keep wrapping them. I use the polder for meat temp, and the oneida for ambient, along with some analogs built in. In my opinion, you cant have too many thermos. Its nice to know whats going on in all parts of your smoker. Ive wanted a remote just for ambient so i can sit inside when its cold out. ..like today!! --its -1 right now. So i can be alerted to sudden rises or drops in temp. But all i could find were devices for around 40 to 50 bucks. And i didnt want to spend that much on one. This was a good compromise i think. I will post my results with the thermo when i get it!

??? Has a 7 day return policy which is normal for any online sales

.
Thanks for the link, seller has great feedback, will be ordering one today.

Sorry, I saw a no returns policy listed for the seller under conditions. Was merely passing along what the seller had posted. As has already been pointed out, he does guarantee against DOA.

Just bought one on sale at Kohl's. Got it for $10.00 after sale price (originally $39.00, on sale for half off and had a Kohl's cash coupon for $10.) Problem was that after powering it up with batteries, the base unit power light never lit up. Sent e-mail to manufacturer on Saturday, 12-5-09, got request for pictures of unit on 12-8-09. No response yet from that exchange. We'll see what happens. I no satisfaction here, I'll just return it to Kohl's and get me a Maverick.
