Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups quick oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup shortening
  • ½ cup buttermilk or sour cream

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F, Mix dry ingredients together. Melt butter and shortening and mix with dry ingredient. Mix in milk until just combined. Don’t over-mix or oatmeal may turn to mush.

Using a cookie scoop or large spoon, drop scoops about 2 inches apart on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Flatten by pressing cookie balls down to roughly a quarter inch thick with a fork dipped in flour or just use your hand.

Bake 12 – 18 minutes until edges turn golden brown.

For a crispier cookie bake at 350°F for 20 – 25 mins or until edges brown
  • Be careful of your times and oven temps. First batch was fine, second batch got a tad burnt on the bottom.

Man you been killing it with the baking lately! I'll take 6 or so with a tall glass of ice cold milk!
