GOSM in the cold?

I know lots of people on here have a GOSM so I'm wondering how they do in the cold? I'm doing a pork butt for a family get together for Saturday and its supposed to be in the 30's, think I'll have any problem with heat?

Shouldn't be a problem........you know the windbrake mod.

you got gas so you can boost up the heat if necessary.
I've run my smoke hollow at -15* with just some protection, do you have a garage or a shed you can tuck into??

Why worry? Use a welding blanket or...Get a windbreak setup, and/or move it into the garage. Leave the big door open. Thought I best add that for a Buckeye fan. ;{)

I doubt you'll have any trouble.

worst case, you can always finish off indoors in the oven. By that time you will have a good smoke on the pork.

Mines under a patio. No problem yet. ... Like the other member's have mentioned ... wind break, etc.

Thanks guys. I can put it in the garage if I have too. Hey Rich, maybe you should become a Buckeye fan, really cant see any reason in being a Michigan fan anymore.

Twister I used mine last week at @ 35* and it held temp fine. It should be fine but you can always use that wind break.

I used my GOSM last weekend and temps were in the single digits and I maintained 180 degrees and wasn't even to medium on the knob. Should not be a problem. Only problem I had were my racks were full and grease dripppings that didn't get caught in the water pan, seeped out the bottom and dripped on my patio...not too mention frozen goo on the legs. But there was a great aroma when I shoveled the snow later that day!

I use mine in the 20 degree's and no problem just a little more propane.

Twister - after I insulated my GOSM with foiled styrofoam and build a portable windbreak old man winter doesn't affect my smoking at all .

I've run my GOSM in temps down in the teens and had no issues. Very seldom have I had to run the burner at more than half of full open, even in temps that cold. I've decided that the staying out of the wind has been more for my comfort than for the smokers operation, it doesn't seem to care.
