We gave up our Costco card to go back to Sams. Our Costco has way to much organic products that I do not even recognize the name. And the samples that are passed out to test try foods, I just didnt care for what I tried.

We mostly just go there for the meats but it is nice to find something in the freezer section that is fast and easy.

Costcos was a nice place, no complaints there, just wanted to go back to things I was alot more familiar with in taste and name.

I will miss that refridgerator section in the summer :)

Anyone else changed form one to the other?

we don't have costco here so all i know is sams

The nearest Costco to us is 45 minutes away. Not worth it for us, when we have both Sam's Club and BJ's within a 15 minute drive.

we had sams and went to costco when it opened here, one year and back to sams, ours has been being remodeled for about 8 months so far, I am ready for it to be done and get the other half of the parking lot back.

We have neither, plus our Walmart is a scaled down version with no Meat Dept. So if anyone has an extra Sams or Cosco Laying around please send it our way.

Respectfully yours

Have heard good about Costco ,but too far for me
85 miles vs 38 to Sams and also have 2 super wally's 15 miles away.
only meat I but from WalMart Corp is packers , no one else out in the sticks has them, and baby back once in a while. all my serious meat comes form my local butcher! no one beats his meat!

Costco has always been an hour drive away from the house. Tried Sams Club, I think they are the "customer no service" champions, they treated me and my family poorly several times. Went to Bj's Wholesale warehouse acrossed the street four years ago. They seem to be doing a good job, just renewed for another year.

I go to both. My family always went to Costco, my wife's family went to Sams. So I have a card on my parents Costco business account and she has a card on her parents Sams business account.

I've only been to Costco once, about 10 years ago. It's a 4 hour one-way drive from here. Sam's is 90 minutes. No brainer there...

I pretty much know what to expect when I walk into Sam's...they're predictable.

Eric

Never been to Sam's but we're big Costco fans in my house...until we get to the cash register, that is.

We have several locations for both Costco and Sam's to choose from. The two stores we usually frequent are only about 1/2 mile apart, so we usually hit both Costco and Sam's in the same day. We like different products/brands from each. I also prefer the pork from Sam's. Spares are 3 to pack, 9 racks to a case where Costco is 2 to a cryo and 8 to a case and pork butts are bone in at Sam's compared to the boneless variety at our Costco. If I'm cooking butts for pulled pork, I line the bone-in. If making sausage, I get the boneless for convenience. Sam's us usually a bit cheaper on pork and our Costco seems to usually have better beef in the case. Works for us...

We're right down the street from you in Fort Worth and have both available on Bryant Irvin Road, plus several other Sam's around FW. But, always went to Sam's a/c wife is on our son's card from work. However, can you go into Costco to look around w/out a card, or is it mandatory to be able to get in the door to have one? I'd be interested to do some price-shopping on butts per lb. I bought a two pack bone-in butts from Sam's last week at $1.28 lb (which, after boning out, is equivalent to $1.44 lb boneless - had 15.5 lbs. of boneless product left out of 17.42 lbs. of bone-in product at $22.30 total cost: $22.30 ÷ 15.5 = 1.438, or 1.44 lb., or another way to compute it would be 15.5 lb ÷ 17.42 lb = 88.98%, so $1.28 lb ÷ .8898 = 1.438 lb; boneless equivalent of a butt is 88.98% of total weight. This is how cutting tests are done to determine value between cuts). Do you know what Costco was charging per lb. for their boneless butts?

They'll ask you for a card at the door when you go into costco, tell them you want to check the place out and maybe get a membership if you like it.

Only Sams club here. Rarely do we buy any meat from them unless its Chicken or Pork as we raise our own beef. But thats changing this year. Will be adding a few pigs to the farm. My favorite thing about going to Sams is the checkout. I love to go in and buy only one item and watch the door cop check over my reciept. It confusses the heck out of em LOL. I also love it when the wife LOADS up the cart and we hit the door cop. Apparently, they only care about the items they can see. So, in the spirit of fairness, onetime, and I say one time because the wife threatend to leave me if I did it again, I had store empty my cart and go over every item to make sure I had everything I paid for. I told them that the receipt seemed high for the items I had. Man was the wife mad at me for that one. I had a good time though

If nothing else, tell them you want to talk to some one at the membership desk and just walk in.

I was just a Coscto tonight but didn't price any meat. The last time I bought any butts at Costco was in December and can't even remember what I paid at that time, but I think it was around $1.60lb back them.

Gloria no longer shops ay Costco, but still shops Sam's Club for evrything except meat. We have a local market that has knockout prices every Thursday, and they have 15 butchers to handle the line of people buying meat.

I love Sams. I get treated very well but I am there almost every day. They even let park at the front door in the loading zone.

I got 3 Costcos within 10 miles from my house. I usually buy meat, detergent and bottled water from there. Never been to Sam's. Not because I heard bad things...just my family has always been a Costco family. Does anyone know if Sam's meat dept is basically the same, better, or worse than Costos?

A new place that I do goto is The Resturant Depot. Real good prices on meat and as long as you are prepared to buy in bulk and trim/prep the meat yourself, it is a great place (if you have a business license). I got a case of bone-in pork butts for $0.79 a lb.
