I just got back from the grocery store (Winco), the only Black Friday tradition I follow. I always go to the grocery store the day after Thanksgiving to see if they deep discount their turkeys.

I picked up two fresh, organic, never frozen turkeys for 38 cents a pound. Total weight was 34 lbs. Cost $12.92 (regular price was $1.98/lb). My wife likes Butterballs because that's what her family always cooked. 98 cents a pound (regular sale price was $1.68/lb). Picked up a 16.5 lb Butterball that was still frozen. A bunch were already thawed in the bin. I'll go back in a day or two because they'll most likely deep discount the thawed ones.

I've now got four turkeys in the freezer. A couple more and I'll be good for the year.

Edit: the thawed Butterballs, if I pick up any more, will be smoked right away, then carved up, vacuum sealed, and frozen for quick meals, soup, etc.

Today, wife picked up some fresh Turkey legs and thighs which I will freeze and put away for later so we can have some awesome Turkey dark meat later in the season.

I picked up my Thanksgiving turkeys for .29 cents lb.
I need to keep an eye out for some turkey breasts. I like smoking them.

Thanks for posting, I need to get better at this. I am always a little behind. I also need to grab corned beef during Easter so I can make pastrami.

Yep picked up a 20 and 15 pounder after thanksgiving .79 a pound. Just got done working those 2 up. Made roasted injected breast with the 20lber and 15lber cut off the breast pounded out, seasoned, rolled up, tied and vac sealed will smoke tomorrow for sandwich meat. Deboned the thighs and put that wings and drumsticks in a brine, will also smoke tomorrow. Along with a full pork loin and 5lb top round roast. Hopefully pictures to follow.

Also was at the store today and butterballs were .79 a pound will give a day and see the price then. Store brand though smaller (11-13lb) was .39 a pound.

Bagged all the bones, necks and gibblets to make a couple batches of stock too. Figure I might get 2-4 more of these birds.
Do my discount ham shopping after Christmas.
