I just got back from the grocery store (Winco), the only Black Friday tradition I follow. I always go to the grocery store the day after Thanksgiving to see if they deep discount their turkeys.
I picked up two fresh, organic, never frozen turkeys for 38 cents a pound. Total weight was 34 lbs. Cost $12.92 (regular price was $1.98/lb). My wife likes Butterballs because that's what her family always cooked. 98 cents a pound (regular sale price was $1.68/lb). Picked up a 16.5 lb Butterball that was still frozen. A bunch were already thawed in the bin. I'll go back in a day or two because they'll most likely deep discount the thawed ones.
I've now got four turkeys in the freezer. A couple more and I'll be good for the year.
Edit: the thawed Butterballs, if I pick up any more, will be smoked right away, then carved up, vacuum sealed, and frozen for quick meals, soup, etc.
