Ok so I could have disclosed but my mission is highly confidential.

I type this while drinking a liter of Dunkel in Hannover, Germany.

Two nights thus far and two different local places I have eaten schnitzel both nights. My hosts are very gracious and I am having a good time.

Had pork knuckle - it is made in the oven then put on the grill to form a nice crust.

Never had heard of it before - it was good though.  I will be asking the butcher next time I am there for a couple.

This building - similar to a city hall or courthouses in the US was the only building during the bombing campaign during WW2 in Hannover that survived.

Hannover was heavily industrial therefore a major target for the allies.  The building is a little over 500 years old.

One of the engineers with me on the trip.  At Bavarium in Old Town.
All sorts of sausages and meats - pork knuckle on the right.

Beers at Paulaner.

Inside of Bavarium.

Pork knuckle at Brauhaus.

I know you had a great time. I lived in Germany for 9 years, 4 years in Augsburg and 5 years outside Bamberg (both in Bavaria, bhut Bamberg is in the Oberfranken region of Bavaria).

Their "city hall" (per pic) is called a "rathaus". "Rat" means "council" or "advice". They usually have a restaurant in their basements called a "ratskeller", "keller" meaning "basement", where we get the word "cellar". The English translation for the same thing is called a "rathskeller". FWIW, English is a Germanic language.
