Good Morning

Does anyone have experience with Gel Gloss cleaner on their cookers?

I was watching a YouTube video, and she gentlemen’s cookers always look spotless. He said he uses Gel Gloss that he gets at Home Depot.

In reading the description, it sounds like it works on many surfaces. I have Weber Spirit and a Traeger, and trying to confirm if this is safe for their exterior.

I have never cleaned the outsides of my grills or smokers, other than an occasional spray with Pam on my Lang, and some SS cleaner on my Weber Genesis.
They sure could use some cleaning, so if this stuff works, I'd give it a try!
Let us know if you use it, and how well it works.

It’s a polish. I use it for cleaning appliances and tile, tubs, and toilets. Hard impervious surfaces, I don’t use it on plastic nor stainless steel. It does work and I see no reason it wouldn’t work on a smoker.

Thanks for the feedback. Any reason why you do not use it on plastic or stainless?

I’m just wanting to make sure if I use this on the metal of my Traeger or parts of my Weber gasser that it will be OK.

Plastic, it will leave a whiteish polish residue, much the same a car wax/polish on the plastic trim. SS is hard to polish/clean without leaving streaks even with a specific polish made for SS. I have never tried Gel Glos on SS for that reason. Give it a try on SS, I would suggest you try it on an inconspicuous area first. If your Traeger has a smooth glossy surface then Gel Glos will work wonders, if the smoker finish is flat or a pebbled surface you will likely have issues getting the wax to shine between the pebbles. Again try an inconspicuous area.

I picked up a can this morning from Menards and tried it on my Weber gasser.

I would say the results were average. Maybe I had unrealistic expectations or didn’t use it fully correctly. It seems more like a polish than doing any cleaning of the tough grease and other gunk that I was hoping for.

It did polish up the black lid decently. I agree with the comments above, not the best for stainless steel.

If you had a new cooker, cleaned it very often, I could see where using this from time to time would be a nice option to keep things shiny and protected. However, I don’t see it doing a deep clean on its own.
