So I've been researching a lot about how to build a trailer smoker( in the future of course, in college so no money/time to spare) but I was wondering how hard is it actually to build one?? because from what I've seen the hardest part is building the smoker out of a propane tank.
here's my vision of my trailer:
250 gallon propane tank smoker, build my own fire box with a warmer box on top of it
dual axis trailer
Sink/counter top/working space(stainless steel)
with the sink, probably a water tank for dirty water/ a reservoir for clean water
a charcoal/propane grill on the back side.. for snacks leading up to the main course, duhhh
a propane burner for boils, probably turkey fryer base
Of course room for storage like sticks or other supplies
I want to use a already made trailer for the build, preferably a two axis... just for the fact two axle usually means it can handle more weight and I also just like the look of a dually. I've found bobcat trailers(two axles) for around 800 bucks.I haven't really found any 250 gallon tanks so where would be the best places to be looking for them other than craigslist?
For the sink/counter top... i was just thinking of finding a used one at an auction or something to that degree and just cutting it down to the size i perfer... but then i was thinking if i want a grill, why couldn't I get a already made grill and just customize it to the height/size i need for the trailer? has anyone ever done that before? Like for an example do to wally world, buy the charcoal/propane side-by-side combine they sell and just welding it to the trailer??
The funny part is I have never welded before too, but i have no problem with learning how to... plus I'm the type of person that learns rather quickly. I've watched a lot of videos and think i can figure it out, anyone "IFY" about that idea, remember Arron Franklin taught himself how to build his smokers his restaurant uses by videos(I'd hope you know who he is)
-I've looked at trailers that are similar to what I'm looking for and they want $10,000+ for them and I'm like if I'm forking that much out, I'd rather buy the stuff, learn and build it on the way! Any tips/ tricks to the trade would be great! or comments!
