Hello everyone:

I was wandering around the big box wally world and i was in the garden shop. I noticed a ton of grilling/smoking etc. things on clearance. One thing that caught my eye was a A small grill...a Weber Smokey Joe 14". the clearance price was/is $15.

i Googled it this morning and other prices i saw online were $29-$40 and amazon has the same prices ( I'm not sure if its regular or premium) but it sounded like a good deal to me. i don't have a direct need for this in my lineup but i figured for $15 i could find a use for it (heck a gift if nothing else).

What do y'all think about it? Anyone have one and could share what they think of the little portable grill?

Why is it that some folks here on the sight cannot just call things what they actually are but instead use these cute colloquial terms?

Tends to cause confusion.

I think it has a lot to with not admitting to shopping there. I do it too so I am guilty as charged.

Some people also might feel that it is inappropriate to "plug" a business name on a forum.. Not sure.

Sounds like a good deal on a handy little smoker!

rarely will you find NIB (new in box) SJ (smokey joe's) at a garage sale for 15 bucks.. let alone in the store... "GOOD DEAL" ,,,,

I have 2 mini's (made with the SJ) ... Excellent for camping .. can smoke or grill ...

Yea i went ahead and picked it up.  I think it was a good buy i can grill at the beach now too!

and what i read in the rules we were not allowed to plug businesses that are not sponsors of this forum so i was hoping a hint would suffice and get my point across.

Glad you went back . Great buy  . Last year I got a 28" Blackstone griddle and a 14.5 " WSM  for $99  each . I just went for the deal , other wise I don't shop there . Most people  know Wally World is Walmart .

Good score!! I bought one 8 years ago and never used it until this summer. My gas grill rusted out so I started using the lil joe to cook for my wife and I.

I love using it so much that I don't miss the propane...even thinking of getting a kettle and making the switch to charcoal.

Two and half years ago when we moved to NC from VA we had to leave the old propane grill behind ( and one of smokers). we gave them to some friends in town and when we got here i was looking at grills and heard a lot of people recommend the kettle it was only $90 assembled and i already had a WSM so i took a chance.  The flavor difference is amazing using charcoal instead of propane! takes a little longer to get going and will stay hot for hours but puts out better food. I don't use lighter fluid or any accelerant on the coals. (i just use paper and a charcoal chimney) so i don't get any nasty lighter fluid smell/taste. and i use some small charcoal baskets in the kettle so i have a hot side and a warm side (two zone) and when i grill,  i grill 3-4 meals worth of meat and vac seal the left overs and freeze them to be re heated for meals later. I'm thinking of getting a rotisserie and maybe a wok for the Weber kettle!

The Boss and I thought the Smokey Joe would be good for when we travel to the beach or in laws etc. If nothing else i could use as a small cold smoker with AMNPS or give it as a gift.

SJ is a great little grill especially for 15 dollars. I wish our wally world had it on sale.

My Smokey Joe 's and the tamale pot to turn it into a mini-WSM travel with me all the time. We don't go camping with out it!

Load it with charcoal and go!
