This 250 is under a pile of brush in a salvage yard close to my house. Everytime I inquire about it, they can't tell me yes or no. One guy said he would have to get ahold of the owner but never got back with me...I'm gonna drive back over there again this morning and try again. Whats the most you guys would pay for an old scrap tank?I've been looking for 2 months trying to find a tank on CL here local. They are impossible to find. I know there are several little "shops" that collect them and build these smokers/grills full time and sell them for rediculous prices! I just want 1...I even tried calling the local gas companys asking if anyone has a junk tank they want to get rid of, with no luck.

Junkie, I'm not sure of the 'scrap metal' price right now, but would figure it would be at least that, then after discussing it , offer to even bring your own gang of friends out to do the work of recovering it ; Oh, check to see if it has been used as a "Honey Pot"at any time , learned that one on my own

.Call a Scrap Yard to get an idea of the price , and say it is for scrap , they may have one you can get cheaper... same drill , check for the 'crustys'

Have fun and...

$100 firm.  Yeah I can afford that no problem but but these guys wont haggle a dime.  I think my idea is like most of us now days...do something on the cheap!  I ended up walking away from it just out of spite.  I even offered to drive in there and drag it out myself, still no budge on the price.

I've read online, more than a few people complaining about this business and how proud they are of there junk as far as $$$ goes.  I guess I will continue my search

Are you looking for a 250 for a trailer build or would a 120 work for a smaller build?

Well, I'm actually looking for either.  The 125 would be great for learning (just got a new welder) but I have a line up on a used boat trailer that would work great for a 250

Oh man I really appreciate that but I'm in Jacksonville area (3 hours from Tallahassee).  Thank you though!  I think I'm just going to quit being stubborn about this and go back down there and buy that tank locally this week.  They know I want it and it aint going nowhere.

i have a local PP tank repair place that sells junk tanks that can't be used for propane any more....last year they had a 250 for 50.00 bucks scrap price for steel, look in your local area for tank places that re-service PP tanks........bob
