I found the Holy Grail of Mustangs.
1966 GT 350 H 4 speed. Second owner, he bought it from Hertz rental cars after renting it for his honeymoon in 1968 after coming home from Vietnam. He paid $3.000 it had 30.000 miles on it. Today it only has 56.000 miles on it, and it's 100% factory original numbers matching org paint with documentation from Ford and Hertz.
He had all the ducuments framed, in the trunk area. He asked if I wanted to buy it, I said yes, he says ok, $300.000 cash and it's yours .

I thought he was insane until I googled it. In that condition they sell for over $400 Grand. Ouch, okay I'm out!!!

He let me sit in it and start it up and rap the engine a few times to feel and hear it. HOLY FOOK, what a car.

There are unicorns out there to be found, if you have the money to pay to play!

I'm doing pretty good, but not that good, one can still dream though.

What a car!!!!

Awesome car . Always love the Hertz rental paint scheme .
You're gonna make me cry .
Mine was a '66 GT A code car , but it had the K code engine in it ( 306 HP GT 350 ) plus had been fully balanced and blue printed . C6 trans with a 3500 stall . 210 HP nitrous oxide set up . Ran 12.50's in the 1/4 mile , and pulled the left front tire off the ground with the slicks on it .
Wish I had it back . Sold it when We bought this house in 2006 .
These are pictures of pictures , because no digital back in those days .

Growing up the lady across the street from us had a white with blue stripes Shelby GT 350 in her driveway, up on blocks and covered.
When I was 15 yrs old I told her I was almost ready to get my driver's license and I wanted to buy it.
She started crying, and told me it was her son's dream car, he bought it 6 months before he was drafted into the Vietnam war, he never returned. I told her if she ever wanted someone to bring it back to it's glory and take car of it, and tell her son's story, that I would be proud to be that person.

I washed the inside and out side of the car for her, and secured the cover so it wouldn't blow off.

A few times a year it would blow off, I'd wash the car and secure the cover for her. Years after I moved out if my parents place, she passed away, and a hualer took the car away. I never found out who got it.
Man that's one that's still a gut punch too me, the one that got away.

Dan, you found the unicorn for sure. If I was that guy I would never leave it anywhere...except in my garage.
I googled it and there were only 85 of the 4spds made .
Crazy rare.

I said the same thing about driving it.
He was on the way to get it detailed for a local car show. He said he drives it like he's piloting a ship, and gives everyone a wide berth.

A few times a yr he races it at a nostalgia race at the Sonoma raceway/ we still call it Sears point raceway. It's about 30 miles from us.

I asked how it runs? he says
"Like a raped ape"
I guess that means fast. LOL!!!

I asked if he had big dogs gaurding it at home. He says, no "45 ACP and 12 GA home defense guns with the best security system you can buy " I said, that'll work!!! Lol!!!

Cool guy!!!

WOW!
When I got my license, Had a neighbor with a :
69' Mach One
Had a 351 4 B Carb, Hurst 4 speed.
Told him would buy it.
He was a Colgate Salesman, So? He never drove it much, Due to the Company car he used.
He took me for a ride , then let me drive it.
I had a 73 Ranchero with a 351 auto trans.
So? I babied it with the gas, knowing it was a lo t faster?
When I gently hit the gas very lightly, It Laid wheels going from 2nd to 3rd.
So?, I downshifted after hitting 4.to calm it down?
Again it laid wheels downshifting !
He told me to pull over and he drove it home.
Again? I was very soft on the gas.
I can,t even imagine what the car would do if you laid into it with the proper experience driving it ?
It was an amazing drive , I will never forget !
He told me he was not going to sell it too me, He said I would probably kill myself?

Back in the day I sold Ford cars
Had the opportunity to drive the SVO Intercooled Turbo Mustang.
Had a Pro driver take us around Pocono Racetrack, PA.
Car had Different set ups, one for Track racing.
Not sure how fast we were going but was slammed against the side panel in the back seat.
That was another neat Mustang run !

Last story:
Guy had a 65 Convertible Mustang it was a real piece of junk. Remember putting a hole in the roof with my figure.
Asked him if I could take a spin before I bought it?
He said SURE!
We take it down this dead end street into the woods with a few houses on it.
Muffler was bad, very noisy.
Car stalled due to a low battery.
Was a 302, 3 speed.
We tried to push start the car pulling the clutch.
Nothing going to start.
Then someone called the COPS on Me! Due to the noise?
COP wrote every ticket he could think of to bust my balls?
Car was not legal:
No Tags., Insurance, Inspection, Disturbing the peace, Ect. wrote 6 tickets!
I was very polite, But I guess he thought I was a smart ass for taking the car out for a drive? Joy Ride ?
Found out later, the car would not start when push starting it?
Had the damn Key off ignition!
Lucky I worked for a Lawyer as a House boy.
He had the Tickets dropped, Would of costed me almost 1 K .

Ironically I never did ever buy a Mustang, but drove a few !

Buddy of mine in A Mustang GURU.
Told me there is a new Mustang that is the fastest production car ever built!
H e has a friend that has one!
Costs over $300 K now to buy, very few were made.

That's it Folks !
Thanks for the MUSTANG RIDE !
ELF
