well I was bored this week and I wanted to start smoking some grub.. so I was doing some reading and want to build myself a little smoker.. so I decided to go with the ceramic flower pot smoker. with an electric hot plate a couple of pie tins and grate and a gasket.. should be ready to go.

I did a dry run and got nice blue smoke for about an hour and got up to 215-225 degrees.. I'm thinking that will work for some smoking... I might need a higher watt hot plate. but let's see what happens.

Nice!  Thats the kind of smoker i started off with.  the only thing that stinks is the size limitations.  I also found it was not usable in the winter without a better burner... wouldnt get up to temp... have fun, learn the ropes with it, and find a way to upgrade down the road.

yeah a single 5-8 lbs brisket or maybe an upright turkey.. it's cool for a family night dinner on the weekend.. but your right it is kinda small.. I'm already planning on building/ fabricating my next smoker... :)
