Hey everybody! So, I have been grilling on a good old fashion Weber Kettle for decades. Poor thing doesn't have any legs at this point, but it still works. My buddy came over one day and we got to talking about how we grill 2-3 a week, but how I really wanted a smoker. He mentioned that he had two in his backyard and that I was welcome to have one of them. I went over to his house a few days later to find a rusted out piece of junk. But, after kicking the tires, It seemed like a pretty sturdy little unit and for free, I couldn't beat the price.

So, I went to work and spent a few hours here and a few hours there rebuilding it. Since the rebuild, we have made two half racks of beef ribs and a 6.5 pound brisket. I have been wanting a smoker for a long time now and the ~$70 in parts and elbow grease was definitely worth the delicious food we have had so far. Next up, a 6 pound pork butt.

Here is a before and after of my little smoker. The only markings on it are on the thermometer, which says "Oklahoma Joe's/New Braunfels."

Thanks guys. I plan on doing a 6 pound pork butt tomorrow, while relaxing and watching some football. Lucky for me, the girl is a fan of football and smoking too.
