First time smoked shotgun shells

Dang hooked on smoke hooked on smoke between the two of yall I'm gonna be going to the grocery for supplies. Both of those look good.
Did the shells soften up as they cooked?

The first time I made them the shells were a bit crunchy. Then I learned that you need to pack the shells and let them sit in the fridge for about 4-6 hours. The shells absorb some moisture which helps them soften up.
The second time making them I par boiled the shells, not good, the split while stuffing them.
Give them a try, to me, they are well worth it.
