That thing is a monster, looks like one helluva smoker. Great info on the vents though thanks guys.

Quick question for anyone local or thats in the know. Are there any good scrap metal or metal sales places around norcal area? I visited one here locally and my head almost blew up at the price they wanted for the 3/8's plate.

Im not in your area, but one suggestion, find out who the biggest distributer for steel is in your area and price it there. New steel really is not that bad if you can find the main hub, most suppliers buy from them and mark it up 50%.

Every time I see this smoker I drool. What a beauty it is

Following this build. Looks great. I'll be building my first one this coming Jan/Feb. I can't wait but at the same time... I don't feel like I'm even close to ready.

to cut the doors get a wrap around from a welding suppy. use it to mark the ends of the doors. then use a level to mark the top and the bottom of the doors. use a tape measure to make sure you are square. i like big doors. for big pans or hogs, turkeys. but big doors let out lots of heat. so learn to keep the doors closed. by a good remote temp gauge so you don't have to check the food. then relax and let the smoke flow. and once again. keep the doors closed. or make smaller doors so you don't loose as much heat if you have to look.

sounds like your on the right track to a great smoker. show us pics as it comes to life.

Along for the ride..... Always learn from these...... Sloooooowly working on a build of my own. I am "borrowing" Ribwizards design for the chamber......
