this was a first for me. new Cosori dehydrator, used a mix - high mountain original. mixed per instructions using 2lb of 92% lean, refrigerated overnight, used a LEM jerky canon. 165 4 hours was about perfect. Overall very pleased with the easy and outcome.

One question. The Cosori trays have a very fine SS grate. A couple pieces stuck pretty bad. Is there a way to avoid that? I didnt want to spray the grates with oil - is that an option? I did buy silicone mats that fit but the holes in them are very small.

Here is a pic, 4th bag is in the refer and I might have eaten a bunch in the process.

thanks in advance for your input.

Whole muscle will do same with sticking. I pull the trays about 3 hours in and just loosen up the meat from the trays, it’s usually sticking by then. Back in to finish and no problems.

I'll try the silicone mats on the next batch. cleaning the stuck on ground beef was rough.

As far as the Cosori dehydrator...I like it a lot. not too loud, made great jerky easy. Wife is excited to dry some fruits. We all win!

I feel like the silicone mats on the grates will save a lot of brain damage in the cook and clean up. Getting the stuck beef off the fine grates was kinda nightmarish...In my later years I am definitely leaning towards easy-er.

I give my grates a light spray with cooking oil. They may still stick a little. But not nearly as bad.
I'll give this a try. I was overthinking the additional oil, but its the animal fat that is the worry.
Looks good David. That the only kind of jerky I make anymore. I use the silicon mats.
I will try these too. I bought them after reading that fruits stick to the SS real bad.
