The only downside is it takes a loooong time to clean a slicer vs a good sharp knife.

I do own a vintage 1940's Hobart 1512 so I know whereof I speak.

I think you will like that slicer overall Charles. Heads up to only use a food grade lube on the slide mechanism. No oil or crisco, those will gum up. I use the Cabelas brand food grade lubricating grease.

TAKE EDGE'S ADVICE ABOUT THE LUBRICANT, IT WORKS THO AIN'T CHEAP.
