Been trying to get around to get around to doing the maintenance on my bike so I can pull it off the table, give it a bath and start riding. Bike is on a lift I built. 2 weeks ago I pulled it out of the hole I had it stuffed in. Dropped the battery in it and fired it up. Smoked like a skeeter truck from years ago....way to much fogging oil last fall lol. Sadly, somehow, the bike and lift are back in the hole they were pulled from....

You'd be able to ride that harley, duc or whatever your bike is. Just be patient. I had to restore a bike too and it was a pain in the crapper to fix, but eventually, I was able to fix it, Goodluck!

Cooking is like gambling,  you never know what you'll get.

I'm somewhat in the same boat with my Blazer.  Wouldn't start a couple of months ago, did a little trouble shooting hoping that it's not what I'm pretty sure it is.  Still sitting out there as I really don't want to change the fuel pump for the third time.  There is a very small chance it may be a couple of other things but once I eliminate those I know I will have to still change out that d@mn fuel pump.  So, my Blazer still sits but my is getting real tired of me using her car.

Maybe take it to a mechanic?  Just a thought.

And pay them $350 to change the oil and tighten the belt? In the time it would take me to pull it off the table, load it up on the trailer and drive the 30+ miles to town I will have done it myself. Besides, not just the bike. Splitting wood for the rf project, planting trees, waxing the 2 trucks etc just not enough time. The biggest problem I s I can only work at. A quarter of the pace I used to....and I can only handle a few hours a day...damn back pain[emoji]128556[/emoji]

Kind of hard for me to bring anything to a mechanic unless I, for whatever reason, can't do the job myself.  This is more a matter of not "wanting" to do it rather than having to do it.  I'm sure my wife will make me do it sooner rather than later.

I keep using the excuse of snow on the ground but that has been running pretty thin as spring is finally setting in.

Fixed income here so I do everything that I can by myself. And considering I am a gear head that is quite a bit

Bike or car nut?
Cars.  Cut my teeth on a '76 Camaro with the 4 speed Saginaw.  Ended up being able to change the clutch out, by myself, in a parking lot in under one and a half hours.  Just before I sold it, and after putting in 7 clutches, I finally figured out what the problem was.  The previous owner, or the factory, had installed the wrong clutch fork.  The parts store got to know pretty well during that time as all the clutches were under warranty when I replaced.

Truth be told, only one of the failures was my fault.  Brand new clutch and a very heavy foot that ended up with the guts of the tranny on the street.  At least dropping a tranny on that thing was pretty easy but those parts store folks weren't happy in the least when I brought the clutch back in less than a week!

Posting to hopefully inspire you a little as I got my Blazer running today.  Turns out I didn't have to change out the fuel pump after all.   The we ather was decent enough with no snow on the ground so I finally changed out the fuel filter and that "seems" to have done the trick.  After sitting for a few months, though, it did die on me a couple of times.  I going to throw some fuel system clean in the tank and hope that solves the problem.

But I finally got off my @ss and got to work on it!

Went to fire the bike up yesterday. With the heavy oil I run in it the bike needs to run for a while prior to changing the oil. Bike is a b@tch to start when it is cold. Battery just didn't have enough in it to fire up. Hopefully it is charged. When I get home today it is on the list of things to do.

Does it ever end?? Good day to work on the scooter....raining on and off....hooked the air hose to the ram that lifts the bike table. Ran it up to a comfortable level. Gathering up the 3 buckets I use to change the oil, looked down and seen the ram peeing hydraulic oil....

Sometimes I think ol' Murphy is a home mechanics best friend!  Or at least in his eyes because I've never invited him to help me on anything.

I did get the Blazer out on the highway today.  I live about 10 miles off the highway and the damn thing kept dying on me every time it went to shift into second.  Finally dawned on me to keep it in first for a while and then put it in second.  When I got to the highway put it in third.  Went to town with my wife following in the car just in case.  Made it to town and did our shopping and took off in third.  It "burped" a couple of times was fine after that.  I burned through the old gas with a fuel system cleaner down to just less than a quarter of a tank and filled it up with some fresh stuff with another bottle of cleaner.

Put 'er in drive this time with no problems at all the rest of the way home.  I'll take it out again tomorrow on the highway and hopefully everything will be fine.

Nice to see I am not the only one with bad gas....not in a vehicle but...well...looks like you might have it resolved.
I did get a he oil changed on the he bike. Thinking I might put a hose clamp around the oil filter and safety wire to something, the thing skakes hard enough to loosen the filter. Every time I change the oil the filter is loose....and I know it is not from me not cinching it down enough.
Murphy is always lurking nearby.

Well it is on the ground....finally. Belt was real loose. Typical for this thing half the hardware on the bike was loose. Was going to take it out for a quick ride but it only has about a quart of fuel in it...and I only have 87 octane in the garage. It will ping something serious on that stuff....have to wait til I go get some Super.

We got about a foot and a half of snow yesterday through this morning so I got to take the Blazer out in that stuff.  Stumbled once or twice slightly but I think I'm over the hump with it at least.  Hopefully you'll get the bike out soon!

Have to go to town tomorrow so I figured I would wash the bike today. Rolled it and the pressure washer out. Went to fire up the pressure washer, not even a sputter. Pulled the plug to check for spark. Gave it a pull...and had a fireball. Carb filled the cylinder with fuel. No problem, just use the hose. Grabbed the sprayer that I mix Simple Green and water in. Pumped it up...nada...no spray
