This is the view from my back patio. Thankfully it dissapated before it got to my place, but dang it I was tending the meat in the BBGOSM! I don't have time to run and hide when it's time to mop!

If you live in Tornado country, keep your heads down. it's gunna be a rocky year. Moisture levels here are beyond belief.. We are going to be spawing these devils all year..

Ugh, creepy seeing something like that so close.
Glad we hardly ever have tornadoes in Jersey. 3 that I can remember in all my life, and they were no real big deal.
Glad the meat wasn't hurt, and of course you and yours.
Stay safe out there.

Glad you made it OK.

I can speak from (up close and) personal experience...they really suck! Nearly lost my family & home while I was at work...then it almost got me as I was trying to get to town...heavy rains/hail will frequently mask/hide the funnel cloud, and this was no exception. I saw this storm cell from over 25 miles away and I knew trouble was coming. If you can see it from a distance, and know what to look for you can plan ahead as needed.

Do watch your backs out there folks...if the weather doesn't look good, it probably isn't.

Good smokes, and stay safe everyone!

Eric

I have seen that twice in my life. Scared the crap out of me the first time, the second time I was tracking it on local news and could watch the news and the funnel at the same time from my front porch as it passed about a 1/4 mile from house. My neighbors thought I was lunatic for not seeking shelter.

When I was a kid one touched down right on the main street in Harrisburg PA and wiped out my dad's shop. HARRISBURG?!?!

Now I live in Illinois, where funnel clouds are the state flower.

Fantastic Picture, BTW.

Wow - not much else to say but ... amazing picture!!! Besides the daring attempt to stay for the photo, I'm glad to hear it left you alone and allowed you to finish your bbq!
