My grandpa has always had cabbage for New Years, says its for good luck for the year. I think it's a German tradition maybe. So today I chopped up 2 heads with some onion and bacon, 1 can of beer, 2 beef boyon cubes, a stick of butter, tony c's seasoning and black pepper. Put all of this in Dutch oven. Put it on the gas grill for bout hour and half, than on the smoker. Also has rope sausage on the smoker that turned out great.

Looks good. We always ate Pork and Sauerkraut for New Year's Day. It's supposed to bring luck and fortune...but I'm no millionaire yet!

I always remembered we were not allowed to eat chicken because it will make you scratch...scratch for money.

I've heard that cabbage brings luck.  Heck I've even heard of oyster stew! Down here tradition is a big ol bowl of black-eyed peas for New Years.... b

You guys..... Its cabbage; lucky with money, and blackeye's; lucky at love.

And oysters....... well they just don't work like they used to. I ate a dozen on the half shell and only 7 worked. I blame British Petroleum!
