Ok guys, I didn't have Yoder put a door thermometer in at the factory, I wanted one I could calibrate. Understanding there is a big difference between grate level and well every where else, not to mention I will be using my tappecue.

So if you were putting one mechanical thermometer in, where would you put it? Grate level left or right? High and left closer to the stack? for a quick reference.

I think I would put it right in the center at grate level.

It is just going to be a reference.

I very seldom use a external therm on my smokers, because I know what the grate temp is compared to the therm in the door.
