Hello, everyone! I have been reading quite a good number of posts, recipes and reviews on here and I figured it's about time I started to smoke more often.

I first started to learn about smoking meat from a buddy in college who often smoked with his dad using their custom built smokers. Then about two years ago my wife gave me an entry level smoker as a wedding gift (Char-Broil American Gourmet Charcoal Smoker). It isn't the best smoker, but it was a thoughtful gift and it fits my needs just fine for now (although I am thinking of going to an entry-level vertical charcoal smoker for smoking and a basic Weber kettle or something cheaper for grilling).

I am still very new to the art of smoking. In the past I have smoked some wings, pork shoulder and ribs. However, the smoking bug has gotten me recently and I want to smoke much more and often now. I have found the people here and this site to be very friendly and resourceful, and I am looking forward to being a part of the community.

If anyone is interested, I am originally from South Jersey (huge Eagles fan!), but I attended high school in Mississippi. I graduated from Ole Miss (Hotty Toddy!) and I now live in Louisiana with my wife and two dogs (lab-Layla and boxer-Duchess) where I go to law school.

Time and money has kept me away from smoking, but with all the ideas and help on this site, I think that is about to change!

 to the SMF MR. L!

Sounds to me like you have plenty of tools to start and continue smoking!  I started with a charcoal grill and using an indirect cooking method and just kept collecting equipment.

I now own way too many grills and smokers, according to Steph (the wife).

We are glad you found us!

One final word...we like to see what you cook so post plenty of pictures, which we call Q-view.

Good luck and get smokin'

Bill

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. I have signed up for the e-course. I also look forward to posting pictures, though the ones I have seen on here make me a little intimidated to post any I might have. I can understand PGSmoker, I stopped in Lowe's the other day and found plenty I wanted to bring back with me.
