Does anyone have a ET-73 Transmitter modification?

OK its cold here now and I bought the ET 73 for so I would not have to baby sit the smoker in 20 degree weather. After paying shipping back to Maverick I have the same range issues as before, so let the mods begin.

I have seen the receiver mod and plan to do that after the Bears game today, But I thought that I stumbled upon a mod to add an antenna to the transmitter side as well.

The way I figure why not mod them both, if adding an antenna to one adding a second has to be better.

I did a number of searches and did not see anything.

Thanks I can't pull the link up on my blackberry,

I will do the antenna mod on the receiver, I thought I saw one for the transmitter afew months ago. Been reading everyday so I could be mistaken.

That's the one I was looking for, thought I had it bookmarked but could not find it.

Going to try this mod this week, maybe if I can find my camera I will take some pics.

I will post the results in a new thread, and try to figure out how to link it to this one.

I've done it Nickelmore, it's very simple and takes less then thirty minutes to do. I used instructables directions that GaryT posted.

I was very impressed with the extra range I got out of it.

I am just going to make both antennas 6.5 inches long and try it. I have some solit copper wire like out of motor windings that Im going to use. I will pit heat shrink tubing over the one on the transmitter so it does not touch anything.
