Here in SD we have very much like Iowa is proposing. A concealed permit for 5 years have to do a short application at the sheriff's office. It makes it nice in a state like ours where we travel so much to do any shopping. When I got mine, it saved me a 3 hr drive each way to SF where I bought my pistol because it waived the waiting period. The permit was much cheaper than the gas. I like the idea of Vermont's stance, but ours is livable.

I have a CCL in Tx. However, I agree with Ted Nugent that the 2nd amendment is my license to carry. JDT, I support concealed carry for the very reason you state your preference for open carry; you don't know who is carrying, and you shouldn't. Open carry, while it should be allowed by the above mentioned 2A, may sometimes say "shoot me first". A BG may hesitate because of not knowing who is packing and who isn't when concealed carry is allowed.

I was told the sheriffs recruit people to get ccls in the border counties of texas, heard any rumors like that? I was thinking more of 7 guys sitting around in the pizza joint openly packing might discourage a couple of cash box bandits casing the joint, its a played out movie script, two guys bust in with guns and the entire room is pointing guns back at them kinda thing.

When I got back from Vietnam, I joined the NRA. They told me the Democrats were going to take my 6 weapons away. 41 years later, I now have 14.

yeah, most of the good pizza joints around here do sell beer but I'd say its 50/50 on ones that do and ones that don't, most chains don't most privates do but not all.
