OK, so what is considered smoking???

I know if I smoke a brisket for hours, it is considered smoking.

So If I offset cook a steak with lots of wood chips for say 1/2 hour, is that smoking or just BBQing with flair!?!?

Just curious!

yo fort collins,
im glad to meet you !

i m h o
bar be que is cooked low and slow
so you can bar be que in a crock pot--

give me a minute -while i brace for the onslaught ,for that statement..

smoking is adding hard wood smoke to the cooking process...

---you cant do that in a crockpot--only liquid smoke...

there is 2 ways of smoking--
1 is cold smoking---thats 90 to 110 f..

then theres SMOKE COOKING or called hot smoking..

q is considered between 185 and 225 f degrees

smoke cooking can be that.. also it can be on offset from meat cooking..

cooking steak your way is smoke cooking...

hot smoking takes hours--
smoke grilling takes minutes

every one will not share my opinions...
