Well after months of looking at new smokers, and not being able to make up my mind on which path to go, I have finally decided to make my own uds. I wanted something low maintence and still pushed out that great charcoal taste. I have found a few food grade barrels in my area for sale. I noticed that some are painted inside and some arent, does it matter which route I go with ?

I just finished my first UDS, If you can get one with out paint you will spend less time clean the inside. I am going to do some yard bird on the UDS maiden voyage this weekend, will post some q-view.

It's called a liner. Get one with out it if yall can. But, a weed burner will get alota it outa there. I burned mine then power washed, burned again, power wash then used a wire wheel in my angle grinder ta get the rest. Been doin great ever since I built it. Gonna build a couple more here real soon.

Great choice! I bought a new barrel myself, just didnt want to hassle with a liner. Best smoker I've ever had. Get a post up when ya get it built.
