A lot of great comments here. Thank you to all.

I was not going to get on this thread as I , don't really know what to say. Hard to talk about myself in this way.

But I will say , Yes I would have loved to have tried the meat from CPB, but that just could not happen.
So when I talked with Robert and gave him a couple suggestions, Veterans hospital or a soup kitchen ideas etc, and
when Robert mentioned about what he and Tracy do at the church. That was all I needed to hear. And the story unfolded from there.
And then Joe popped in and added to the kindness for the ones in need. Good on Joe and CPB. Such big hearts everywhere.

Now for the rest of this group of folks on this forum, what is happening here is really good for the folks that will receive this bounty of foods.
But in no means is this new with this group of people I like to call great friends I have never meet.

There are many people that have gone above and beyond to help others in need. If just a call or chat in a PM, to sending foods to someone that mentioned they have not tried. Or to someone that gives to others that have been struggling with financial issues for a bit. To helping out with friends and neighbors.
To the firehouse down the street, or folks down at the river, Or a kind word and prayers to one of us that has family and loved ones that are sick or have passed.
And the stories go on and on.

I really do not do any kind of social media except of this , so I do not know what other forums are like , but I hear things.
This place is a joy to belong to and I love reading other peoples stories and how they made their meals. And I love showing mine. Good and bad.
I enjoy entering the Throwdowns , mostly for the challenge of trying most times something new to me. Win or lose it is always fun.

Now the real job will be for Robert and Tracy to do all the hands on work Robert said no problem and he enjoys cooking, ( and yes he does and good at it also )
But it is He and Tracy that will be in the trenches doing all the hard work and figuring out all the logistics of this .

They are the 2 that should be praised for this act of kindness, as I know this is not the first time or probably the last time they give a helping hand to others.

I will step down off my box now, as I don't want to start rambling.

Final word : Everyone has a story , if you can help someone do it, if you need help, I hope someone notices and helps you.

Read this today. I'll post this here:
Years ago, anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhooks or clay pots or grinding stones. But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom, if you break your leg, you die.

You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal. A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts, Mead said.” We are at our best when we serve others. Be civilized.

Interesting perspective. In all the soc/psyc classes I've had. I never heard or thought of the beginning of civilization that way, or maybe I was just napping during the class. Either way it's an interesting take.
